Removing and Replacing the gear indicator lights?????

Removing and Replacing the gear indicator lights?????

Postby Mark Rasner » Wed Jul 12, 2017 10:16 pm

Recently purchased my first plane. A 1959 Comanche 250.

If a gear indicator light bulb fails how do I get it out of the panel? It appears the bulb lives in the panel behind a colored lens. (green/white or amber) . Stock OEM installation. I can't find a description of the procedure in the maintenance manual.
Keeping a spare on hand and knowing how to R&R the thing would seem prudent.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Mark,

Grasp the lens with your thumb and finger and turn it to the left to unscrew it from the base which should be secure in the panel. Once removed hold the lens while drawing the bulb out from the threaded end, it is about the size of a .22 caliber bullet.

That is what I tried prior but the thing was so tight I was afraid I'd break it. I'll give it another try.
Thanks!
