Fairing for heater vent

Fairing for heater vent

Postby Randy Johnson » Sun Nov 29, 2015 5:15 pm

Anyone aware of a maker for a Twinkie external heater vent fairing?

The vent is a round 3" tube exhaust located near the bottom of the nose of the fuselage that's about as aerodynamic as a refrigerator box, and almost as attractive. It's round shape and size have to create drag on an otherwise sleek and slippery profile.

Another solution would by to trim the excess tubing protruding from the skin of the aircraft, although the protrusion may serve an important purpose of keeping exhaust heat off of the aircraft skin...

Any thoughts?

Hans Heubert made a fairing for his as one of his speed mods. Unfortunately, ICS and Hans parted ways, but he hangs out over on the Airworthy Comanche Forum on Delphi. You might be able to raise him over there.

I've admired the pics of Hans fairing for the heater exhaust. If you come up with a field approved solution I'd be interested to hear about it.

Thanks,
