Speed Cowl For a 250?

Speed Cowl For a 250?

Postby Samuel Beaulieu » Sun Apr 19, 2015 1:01 pm

Hi everyone,

Does anyone knows if there is a kind of ''LoPresti'' cowl for the PA-24-250? I know they have one but it only goes on the 260.

Something for the 250?

Thx!!

The "Eagle" cowl, from Aviation Performance Products, if still available.
Along with the conversion to dual exhaust, I did it to my 250 several years ago.

I spoke with LoPresti a Oshkosh a couple years ago and their cowling can be installed on a 250. I think it was $30,000 when we discussed. The only two options I know of are the LoPresti cowl and the APP Eagle cowl. I like the looks of the LoPresi much better.

I have had an Eagle Cowl for almost 10 years. It has held up well and it does add performance. It makes some nice changes under the cowling as well that helps the overall serviceability of the aircraft. It is a bit more blunt nosed than the Lopresti but it looks much more modern than the stock cowl! I got about 10 mph extra in cruise from it.

The Dual exhaust is included in the kit. I have a 180 that does 175 mph true at WOT and 2200 rpm at 9-11K (significantly less than 75% power) with a significant number of mods including the eagle cowl.
