RAM YOKE MOUNT

RAM YOKE MOUNT

Postby jeffylars » Sun Mar 29, 2015 9:16 pm

I need some guidance, wondering if someone may know the answer. I'm looking to mount my new IFLY740 portable GPS unit to the yoke in my airplane. The yoke tube in my 59' 250 is 1 5/8 inches diameter I believe. I need a clamp large enough to fit this tube and probably two 3-4 inch articulating arms to fit between my bow style yoke/control wheel and pivot up to a viewable angle. Adventure Pilot sells P/N # 740ram-adapter, which marries their unit to the RAM mount system. I just can't seem to find the base unit I need to get this mounted (what I'm finding is to small to fit the yoke tube). Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Jeff Larson

Jeff, AC Spruce sells a Rams mount with a rubber cushioned hose clamp that I've twice used on my Comanches for ipads on the yoke.
I've posted the part # here somewhere, but a long time ago.
Should be able to find it online with Spruce tho.
If not I could look it up for you tomorrow. In fact I have a spare whole setup for theipad.
Let me know,
Don

Hi, Jeff;
I bought the Ram "roller plate" to hold my iPad mini but built my own mounting bracket to attach the RAM plate to the yoke tube because I could not figure out a way of using RAM attaching parts without the finished product turning into a clunky mess. The mounting bracket I built is pretty simple, is rock solid, and makes the plate look like it was born there. Once you see the concept I think will easily adapt to your desired application. If you'll send me your e-mail I will send you some photos.
