Needed set of Twinco propellers

Needed set of Twinco propellers

Postby Michael Klein » Sat May 12, 2012 7:54 pm

Just sent my propellers in for a flush and reseal. Turns out that they needed an O/H and 3 of 4 blades failed.

We are now trying to find some used propellers to save us the cost of buying new ones for $24,000.....

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks

Mike

Suggest checking with the Comanche shops that advertise in the Flyer or Knots2U or salvage yards

The last I knew Knots2U wasn't that expensive for a new set. Also, I seem to recall that Bill Wenkman had a spare net set for his twinco... he has since past, but if you are interested, I may be able to contact his daughter -- not sure how they handled the sale of the twinco or his supply of spares.

Michael,

I have the K2U props and are very happy with them.

Heads up that they take a different torque value for install. When torqued incorrectly, it can and did damage the prop assembly and spinner.

Since my Mom worked with Hartzell to develop them and K2U got the STC, I know that the original 337 included a statement to allow 10% more take-off roll. We never noticed any difference and the STC you'll receive does not carry this warning. Cruise speed may improve a bit depending on the rest of factors for your aircraft. Another benefit is the heavier backplate that is not prone to cracking the way the original was - hope you get back flying soon.
