shimmy damper repair

Is rebuilding the shimmy damper the best route for repair? I see Aircraft Spruce sells a kit.
Is this the best one available?

I got the new one from Air Part of Lock Haven

David,

If you are doing the work yourself, watch and make sure all the right washers and spacers are in place - otherwise the nose gear housing can get scored. Clifton Aero noticed that problem on my twin and easily fixed it.

Is their a diagram that shows the proper washers and spacers? I looked through the parts and service manual and couldn't find anything. I would like to make sure mine is right.

Michael, this is where my expertise runs out. I only know it was a problem and that Clifton fixed it.

I do suspect that Aircraftsman, Inc in Chino, CA is the shop that re-installed it incorrectly.

Thanks Pat

Anyone else out there know the proper washers and spacers required for both ends of the dampner?

If you need a new dampener you probably need new bushings/washers/bolts etc. at the attach points. I got mine at Webco. Ray B
