Hi,

I have a 1968 PA24-260B.

In 2007, my engine needed to be replaced and I had it replaced with a Factory Remanufactured IO-540-D4A5, which had a (re)manufacture date of May 2007.

There is an AD, #2008-08-14, which requires me to have an A&P mechanic grab the fuel injection servo plug with his hand and check to see whether it is still tight; then endorse my engine log book to say it is still tight. That AD was easy to comply with during an annual inspection

Unfortunately for me, it has to be complied with again EVERY 50 hours! That's a real pain in the neck and expensive for me.

Does anyone know if there is a way to permanently comply with this AD?

Thanks for this heads up, first time that I hear about it, maybe because my engine was o/h in 2004.
I have no answer for you but what I would suggest to do is to contact Precision Air Motive for information about manufacturing changes that took place, then maybe if you manage to reverse or use older parts you will be able to get the FAA agreeing that this is a permanent solution...just a thought.

Actually, it turns out there IS a permanent method of compliance - and it's ridiculously cheap and simple to accomplish. My plane was permanently complied last week during its annual inspection.

I'm just sorry that I didn't hear about it earlier. My local shop was willing to do the 50-hour inspection but never bothered to tell me there was a one-time fix.
