JPI 700

My mechanic is installing my JPI 700 this week. It will not fit in the space of the old mixer mizer. He wants to replace the old Hoskins fuel flow that I have been using with the new instrument. I was going to use them both but don't need to. Will the JPI give me all the info I need. I bought the fuel flow model. Does it keep track of gallons used, gallons remaining, etc. Is it easy to set when topping off tanks or not filling them full. Just trying to decide if I want to remove the Hoskins. I have been very happy with its ease of use since I bought the plane.

Any advice appreciated.

Hi Nate,
I have the JPI 760 with fuel flow, it is the twin version for the Pa30.
The fuel flow is extremely accurate on mine. It indicates fuel used, fuel remaining, fuel flow. You can tell it which units to use either US gallons or Litres. It talks to my Garmin 430 which then tells me my range, fuel reserve on landing etc. I have 54 USG useable in the left and right mains, and 30 in the Aux and 30 in the Tips. You can tell it to start at 84 usg or 114 usg, or adjust to any amount when filling up.

Thats what I found out. I downloaded a EDM700 manual and went through it. We are just going to replace the old Hoskins fuel flow with the JPI. Looks like it will do the trick.

I originally had the Hoskins, but had it removed when i had the JPI 760 w/ fuel flow put in.
I never missed the hoskins, the JPI gives me everything i need.
The analog fuel flow gauge gives fuel pressure, and is necessary to keep, where as the JPI gives fuel flow in rate, something like that, i use both
The JPI i use on just about every portinon of the flight, on startup i monitor oil temp prior to runup, even though i still have the analog oil temp gauge.
It's all good.
