Gulf Coast Exhaust Stacks - Unable to find Company or STC

Postby Jon G. Sigurdsson » Mon Dec 13, 2010 5:08 pm

Hi,
I'm trying to locate Gulf Coast Exhaust Company that has or was selling exhaust stacks exstension on the Piper Twin Comanche.
Gulf Coast is supposedly to be produceing exhaust stack under STC SA2648SO but I'm having trouble finding this STC in the FAA library and not able to locate the company. Is there anyone that can share some light on this for me??

On top of this I’m hoping to find someone that has had this exhaust mod extension approved in any of the EASA country’s before the EASA vs. FAA STC bulls..it started over here.

Jon,

You are about the third person who has tried to find the company. I have them on my Twin and they are helpful so I tried to find them to help out these folks. I tried also on FAA and google but to no avail. Please post here if you are successful.

I last dealt with them (her) in ~ 2007. She was really not "customer centric" at that time. Prices went thru the roof, she had to have about 10 orders before she would have any made. "I don't know how much longer I'll be doing this... etc."

There is a pretty big variation in fit if you have the Kts2U nacelle lining kit. I have probably a dozen pictures of different twincos and it seems no two are the same. As I have the nacelles, she told me they wouldn't fit (some have them and they do fit)... but in my case she was correct. I made 2 more versions after buying her's... and I am happy with my current set up.

Private email me and I'll give you a better way.

Thank you for your comments. Do we have other options to install. You see my problem is that this is an STC and I will have to remove the exhaust exstension as they do not hold any grandfathers (prior to EASA) approval in Europe. And what it looks to me then the STC in the aircraft file for Gulf Coast exstension is a fake one as I can not find it in the FAA registery not by number or Gulf Coast name. So if you know of an alternative solution then please share as I find this to be a protective solution for the lower wing area and would like to keep it that way.

I will look at my paperwork... I seem to recall that the STC is in an individual's name. I will post the number after a visit to my hanger.

Ok... my STC from Gulfcoast Stacks is: SA 2648SO date of Issue is 10/23/89, signed by John Tigue, Manager, Atlanta Aircraft Certification Office.

The address at that time for Gulfcoast was

Gulfcoast Stacks
P.O. Box 817
Foley, AL 36586

Did you try "O" and "0".... "Oh" and "zero"... I may have interpreted it incorrectly.

It is a real STC. Many aircraft have it applied. If there was a 337 filed, and STC paperwork included in the aircraft records, then regardless of wheter the STC has been turned in to the FAA (as is what I expect has happened) it is still a valid alteration on your aircraft.
