Top Door Hinge for PA-24 250

Postby Derek Kramer » Tue Jul 27, 2010 2:20 am

I have a 1962 Piper PA 24 250. The top part of the upper hinge on the door, where the bolt goes throug is cracked.

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement?

Thanks,

I know its late, but I never checked this before..
In the early 80's I had L&L change out the door hinges on 72P with a Moony door hinge..(piano type) that cured the problems of door popping open, and sagging.. its still doing its job.The 337 was issued 9/6/84...
I sent the 337 to the Comanche Society at that time.. it has the drawings used to install the hinge on the reverse side.

I had the same problem in 1984, I went to L&L in Lancaster Tx and had the entire hinge system replaced with a Moony hinge (piano type) and that cured the problem.I did send the 337 to the Comanche Society then, but if you want to use this I would be happy to send a copy of the 337 to you...

Hi Derek
I sure you may have sourced a solution for your cracked door hinge. I have replaced both door hinges on our '63 250 with parts manufactured by J & R Aerospace in Melbourne. Webco put us onto this company as they also manufacture replacement flap tracks. Can't for the life of me remember the extact $$$. I think they were around $250 AUD each hinge. Website has all their contact info and parts they manufacture. http://www.jnr-aerospace.com.au/
