the advantage of Reiffs over an oil heatpad is that you can go to the airport for an unplanned flight, and plug the plane in, and by the time you finish prepping the plane a 1/2 hour later the engine is warmed up ready to start (with the high output kit). the oilpads work but need to be left on overnight.

Tanis is good too, but tends to cost more to purchase and to maintain.

personally i have used Reiffs for the last 12 years.

Engine heaters

Don't use the electric wands that fit down inside the dip stick tube. Knew of an owner in Michigan that would leave the unit plugged in all the time during the winter and the result was cooked gunked up oil that plugged up a and or some critical ports inside his engine and shortly after take off the engine seized up and down he came. He survived but the engine was a mess. I saw the engine torn down on a bench and the mechanic told me the use of one of those electric wand heaters was the cause.

Starting to get colder, time to think preheat, and was looking at the EZ pads for my twin. At spruce, didn't see the IO320, wondering which model u'd go w?
EZ440, or 441? At $150/per engine, cheaper than the other systems, and I don't fly if it's sub zero!
