NC Fly-in lunch Jan. 16 @ KMIE

Anyone interested in meeting for lunch at Muncie. IN on Saturday Jan. 16th? Weather permitting of course. Nothing formal just an afternoon of good food and good company. So far it's Zach Grant and myself. If your interested please let me know so I can call ahead. Thanks -Kevin 5901P

Ok, I called the restaurant at KMIE (Kasey J's) and have a blanket reservation for 11am EASTERN time. If you are planning on coming please let me know as I told them I would give them an idea by the 13th of January. They are excited to have us and will give us the banquet room if needed! Lets have a great day. So far my weather prognostication sucks, but lets hope I got that out of my system on the Grissom fly in. I hope to see many of you there. I will offer free tech inspections on the ramp, weather permitting.

if we make it there, is there anything we need to know about the airport?
1. Arrivals from the east, any preferences? PReferred runways to #2.
2. where on field is restraurant?
3. fees for a twin? I've seen hits for up to $45 just to land and park...
4. best place for fuel? airnav shows it at 4.97, thinkin of stoppin at I22, 10 mi to the east? thoughts
5. potholes? suggestions?
I"ve seen the towers on approach plates, are they good snapshots?
Is it really that cold there? coming from NJ, hopefully....

I've been in and out of KMIE many times, and the approaches are no sweat. Muncie is a class D airport, so listen to the ATIS 30 miles out, or so, and contact the tower. Also, if I remember correctly, Indianapolis approach can provide flight following. Nothin' to it. The restaurant is adjacent to the GA ramp on the southeast corner of the airport. Let ground know you're headed that way after leaving the active, and they'll direct you. I've always found Muncie to be a pleasant place to stop, and the restaurant is pretty good too. I'm not sure about the landing fees.

Is it cold in Muncie in January? Let's put it this way; you can probably leave the sandals back in Jersey. ' hope to see you on Saturday.
