Disassembly to horn from torque tube

Is heat required to disassemble the horn from the torque tube?

It did on mine. I would certainly rather use heat than beat the horn to get it off.

Hi,

I have done an couple of these.

1. Make sure that the torque tube is clean of all paint, dirt, debris, etc. I used scotchbrite.

2. Spray torque tube with a lube such as lps.

3. Install one of the stabilator bolts in the torque tube and the clamp it in a vice oriented vertically. This will result in the balance rod sticking out parallel to the floor.

4. Using a heat gun maybe 4-6" from the horn, heat the horn. When it gets hot enough it will rotate due to the weight of the balance rod. When it does slide the horn off the torque tube. Now take a deep breath and look at the horn.

Good luck, Don
