Shimmy Damper

Shimmy Damper

Postby Tidders » Mon Apr 10, 2017 6:13 pm

Hello

Our 1959 Comanche 250 (N84VK), based in the UK, is currently undergoing its Annual maintenance. All was going very well until it was decided that the aircraft needed a replacement shimmy damper. I have been told that these are difficult to locate and that there is only one company manufacturing the part (approx cost of GBP1200?).

Can anyone suggest a source for a refurbished and certified part?

Would be most grateful for any assistance.

Regards

Airparts Of Lockhaven Co. use to have them, and I think they still do. Webco in Newton, KS may also.

There is a simple STC which allows for adding a filler port to the old shimmy damper. Then new fluid can be added as needed. It is held by Aircraftdoorseal.com

Thank you Clarence - wasn't aware of that.

Will have a look at the STC.
