Fuel Strainer Gasket needed!

hello,
first of all a short introduction, we recently adopted a 1962 Comanche 180 and presently she is in the shop for her first annual and getting a better overview concerning future work that has to be done. we upgraded from a 150hp cherokee and plan to keep the Comanche for a long time as our family plane. sad to say, but she is in a worse maintenance shape, than i thought. but at first i urgently need a new gasket/screen for the gascolator (p/n 22458-00, now 486-164). as an interesting matter of fact this part is hard to find in europe (i am based in germany), does anybody know a supplier for a quick shipment overseas or a supplier in europe! would appreciate any advise as the airplane is grounded due the old one damaged and leaking...seems to be original factory equipment :shock:

Ben,

Do yourself a favor and replace the whole unit. Steve's Aircraft makes one for the 180 and Aircraft Spruce, which I believe has a European outlet, sells them. These are a PMA replacement, but you might check with your mechanic if the aircraft is registered outside the US for legality.

You will also need a flush quick drain like are used on Cessnas as the standard ones stick out too far. You can contact Steve's Aircraft directly as well.

hi Kristin,
thanks for the answer, already found the mentioned gascolator earlier, but according the cross reference chart, this gascolator is only available for pa24 up to sn 2298, mine is 3239. any specific reason for that? as well there is no form 8130 available (at least with the ones sold by aircraft spruce), isnt it needed for legal installation? in the long term i am of course willing to upgrade, but i think i need some time to get things sorted out, concerning legal installation. so for the moment i would like to replace the gasket of the existing gascolator to get the airplane back in the air again, aog time is painful :evil:
btw, why the new gascolator, is the original design that bad? just for me to know.
