EGT & CHT Temps O-360

EGT & CHT Temps O-360

Postby Warren Janzen » Thu Mar 30, 2017 4:39 pm

Breaking in a fresh engine overhaul. Trying to make sure to follow the engine builders guide lines, but want to learn as much as possible on the subject.
I only have a single engine cht & egt probe. O-360 Engine.
Here my questions:
1. What CHT & EGT do you typically see below 5,000?
2. Describe your leaning procedure?
3. At what altitude to you start to lean?

Thanks in advance.

That would be a book to try to write here. Can I refer you to look at https://www.advancedpilot.com and read those articles. There is an awful amount of experience there.

Congratulations on the new engine,

I lean at any alt. below 75% power, but I use a JPI 830 to monitor all cylinders

John Deakin has many great articles to read. Here is a link to his posts:

There are many on engine operations. I find them very helpful.
