Hi Tim, How did the aux pump installation go? Ole just received my pumps today. He is planning to cut the electric motor cases shorter and do something with the pads the T clamps mount on. He seems to be technically up to the task, plus he is very pleasant on the phone. Can't wait to see how this works. I'm trying to talk him into modifying the fuel selectors so they are easier to overhaul. It mostly has to do with the ball seats. He's even thinking of Teflon inserts.

So the issue was very simple and we just needed to turn the new mounting brackets around on the pumps. Pumps went right in no problem. Clearances are very similar to the original pumps but everything else lined up perfectly. Both pumps ops checked good and no leaks.

Here's a photo of them in the plane. We rotated the clamps for access and clearance (mainly clearance from each other).

Hi Tim, Thanks so much for the detailed photo. Install looks great. Glad it works. I will send your comments and the photo to Cliff @ Heritage. It sound that Olie is shortening the electric motor case to help. He said he was doing something to the pad.

Hi Tim, Ole's partner went down to Heritage and reinstalled the pumps. Cliff said they were not "drop in" because the discharge tube on the bottom of the pump must be lined up "just right," but once lined up, are easier than originals to get in . He is awaiting my fuel selectors for final installation. I am not sure if Ole cut any off the length of the motor cases or not. Mine look very similar to yours.

Hi Tim, I thank you, my friend, for sharing your knowledge with me. Yours was the the first Twin Comanche that I heard of, to have Ole's overhauled pumps using his T clamp system and with the Teflon bearing where the motor and pump shafts join. I think Ole may do some minor improvements beyond ours which will make the install even better. I did get new motors, as you did. I hope we get long service out of them. Ole told me when I asked him, that the pumps could do continuous service. The motors heat up a little, but not much according to him. He said if the outlet from the pump were completely blocked off, then the pumps might overheat.
I also asked Ole if he thought the two pumps should be on separate circuit breakers rather than on the same. He said if a pump started drawing a lot of current, you would throw the breaker when both were on. You can use your ammeter at that point to figure out which pump is the culprit.
I personally think the AeroMotors pricing is amazing, and the service for me has been excellent.
