Wholey Cowl Value

Wholey Cowl Value

Postby Joachim Gruber » Sat Dec 17, 2016 9:17 pm

I'm looking at a 1966 260B that had a LoPresti Wholey Cowl installed in 1998 (nearly 19 years ago). How much would you estimate this modification adds to the airplane's value? I read on Vref that the new Kit costs about $23,000. Since it's 19 years old, I'm wondering how to estimate its value.
Thanks
Joachim

Understand this is a personal opinion with no research or scientific basis. Assuming the cowling is in good condition, i.e. No significant cracks, no paint checking or needing new paint in general. Also assuming the engine stays cool in climbout on warm days, I would increase the value of the airplane about $5000 and $10,000. The high end of this estimate would only be valid if the entire airplane was of exceptional shape. In this case the cowling would be indicative of an airplane treated with TLC.

Thanks for your responses.
Are nose bowls the same thing? I assume they're different since nose bowls seem to be something for twins.

yepper your right, my bad.

The nose bowls are for the twins which is definitely not the Wholey cowl for the singles.

Guess i took my stupid pill yesterday." Sometimes your the bug, sometimes your the windshield "
