Pristine 1968 PA-30B Twin Comanche

It may come as a surprise but I've decided to put my beloved PA-30 on the market. I absolutely LOVE the plane as I am sure many of you know from the many projects, efforts and upgrades I've posted about on this forum. I've got mixed feelings about selling it but truth be told my 3 daughters have grown in the 4 years I've owned the plane and the volume of stuff they and my wife want to carry seems to keep growing!

I've got several aircraft, am in the process of getting a 6-seat PA-46T Meridian, and am also considering adding a King Air B200 to my 135 cert (to be clear my Comanche has NEVER been a charter plane - just my pride and joy). The Comanche is what I love to fly and these other planes will never touch the economy, but I know what my wife and kids will prefer

Anyway I am attaching a spec sheet which includes detailed maintenance / AD tracking. While my PA-30 has never been a charter plane I have tracked all the maintenance records and status the same way I track the charter planes.

Are you sure you want to sell? You have done such a great job with it! My parents faced the same problem when we started growing. The big family trips were skiing so they sent two of us on United and the other four went in the Twin - don't know if this would work for you but thought I'd mention it. If you do sell it, someone is going to be a very lucky owner.

I don't think my jaw has ever dropped so fast to the floor when I read your post. I certainly wish you good luck but I agree with Pat. I'm sure you have put a lot of thought into this but please think a little more! I couldn't imagine doing all you have done and then sell. I suppose if an unforeseen career ending health issue arose or unforeseen financial hardship was the case but ugh, breaks my heart to hear this. Anyway good luck and it would be interesting to see what it goes for. I know that's none of my business but interesting nonetheless.

Pat / Ed - Thanks for the extremely kind words and thoughts. I did think about it for a long long time and to be perfectly honest I do have mixed feelings. I am fortunate enough to be in a position where I don't have to sell it but I'd say I'm willing to sell it. It's a debate between my heart and my head. The reality is my asking price is a fraction of what I've got in it but I think it's a reasonable number. There are certainly less expensive PA-30s out there on the market but I can say from experience a buyer won't be able to get one of those and do all the things I've done to this PA-30 for less $. I'm not kidding when I say my landing gear project receipts alone were over $25K and that doesn't count the many 100s of hours I put into it during that 5 month project. It's been a lot of fun.

I suspect that if you sell it, you will kind of miss it until your family grows up and leaves the nest and then you will kick yourself endless because you wish you have the Twinkie back. Maybe you need a non-equity partner for 10 years who will take her for a walk when you can't and help preserve her until she is just the right plane again.

All - It's with mixed emotions that I share the news - this morning I watched my beautiful TwinCo fly with with it's new owner to it's new home. I will truly miss the plane, it's been a joy to own and remains my favorite plane to fly. Alas I have simply become too busy to continue giving her the attention she deserves.

I am very happy to report that the new owner is already a new ICS member and I will leave him to introduce himself in his own time. I imagine that N847ED may be appear at ICS fly-ins with the Southeast tribe.
