Prebuy in NC

Prebuy in NC

Postby Charles Claughsey » Sat Mar 12, 2016 2:24 pm

Hello everyone. My name is Chip Claughsey, and I live in CT and have been searching for the right Comanche for us.

I am interested in a particular plane, a PA 24-260 in Clayton, NC. I would appreciate any guidance or input regarding an experienced Comanche mechanic/shop for the prebuy.

Thanks in advance.

Chip,

Smart to get a pre-buy from an experience Comanche mechanic. If it turns out there isn't one nearby, it make sense to fly in someone like Cliff from Heritage Aero. www.heritageaero.com

I answered in your other thread as hadn't seen this one yet. I don't know anyone is SoCal either, but I am up in NorCal. I always recommend starting with a logbook inspection. That makes sense before paying me or someone else to travel to look at the plane. These days, there is really no excuse for the seller not to provide the logs. A digital camera or smart phone and an internet connection is all one needs. A full half the aircraft that I do a logbook review on don't go to the next step of looking at the aircraft. One I looked at last month only took about 15m to determine that the engine had not really been overhauled and in fact had been assembled from two engines. The buyer rejected the concept of a Franken-engine and I don't blame him.

Kristin,

I am getting more serious about the Santa Ana airplane and they have sent me more pictures as well as the logbooks.

Would you be able to represent me in this endeavor with the prebuy inspection?

Thanks,

Chip.

FYI. I have personally found Kristin extremely knowledgeable and we trust her judgement completely. Hope this Comanche works for you - they are a joy to fly.
