Nose bowl / cowling hinge question

Nose bowl / cowling hinge question

Postby Timothy Poole » Tue Dec 22, 2015 3:04 pm

Hi everyone - Wondering if there's any alternative solutions out there for the piano hinge split nose bowls on our Twin Comanches? I've found a number of crack or broken links in both of mine. The piano hinge halves are glassed in. Just seems like there should be an easier alternative to connect these two pieces together.

There are some guys who advertise on Barnstomrers.com. They take yours and refurb them and change the piano hinge out for a nutplate /screw set-up. If going to that trouble I'd personally rather get Knots2U or Lopresti cowls.

If you don't want the LoPresti cowls - my favorite mod, I have the original Twin cowls from my 39

Has anyone done the cowl mod on a 180? Any appreciable difference?

Joshua,
Might I suggest that you start a new thread with this question as it is somewhat off topic from the twin nose bowl issue.
