LORD Mounts, 180

LORD Mounts, 180

Annual time....yikes. This one hurt.

Took off the cowl and removed some clamps and like 10 pounds of tie wraps holding wires and my electronic ignition box to my engine mount to discover that some sinner, long ago, had tried to straighten the engine mount with some vise grips, poorly. So, engine mount frame off to Aero-Fabricators for overhaul and time to replace the engine mounts. $1400 for the overhaul and $260 to ship the mount frame.

So, LORD no longer makes the rubber mounts for the 180hp? Spruce does not have a substitute either. I found someplace that had some in-stock already, so I am good for now. However, what about the future? Anyone know anything about this? Thanks.

Lord still makes them, but they gave up their PMA on them, so the only source is through Piper, so same part, but the price went up by 100%. But, they are still available. You just have to call a Piper distributor or Aviall.

I found a supplier that still had a few on the shelf with a PMA sticker. Thanks!

I found some on the shelf at a distributor that still had a PMA sticker. A&P/IA friend of mine says we could straight face using NON-PMA'd Lord mounts under AC 23-27. I didn't have to go that route this time, but might be an option in the future.
