PA30 Fuel Caps

PA30 Fuel Caps

Postby Frank Brunot » Wed Nov 04, 2015 4:22 pm

Just a curiosity question from an engineer:

Why does a PA30 have two types of fuel caps (one for the Mains, and one for the Aux), when the filler necks on both are identical sizes?

Are the Aux caps vented and the mains not?

I don't believe either are vented. There are separate vent tubes that protrude under the wing.

Both type of caps are suppose to be air tight, as I'm told.

They are the same for the aux and the mains and they are not supposed to be vented. If you have a vented one, someone installed Aztec fuel caps instead. I like Webco's PMA caps so would go that route.

Thanks, Kristin. Four new Webco caps are now on the plane.
