Preheaters

Does anyone have any experience with Hornet preheaters? Where did you place it? Do you also use a cowl blanket? How does it work for you? Thanks.

Mark,

I have a oil pan heater installed; plug in the night before works great. Only hassle is going to the hanger the night before. Wish I had a cellphone remote. Not sure what brand.

Mark,

Recently installed Reiff pre-heat system on newly overhauled IO-720. Consists of band strips around each cylinder and sump heat strip. Coupled this with a cellphone-activated remote switch. Not too hard an install.

System works great. Call the switch the night before and engine is nice and toasty next morning.

I use a thermo pad (Thermo Tec 14120 Heat Protection Thermo Guard FR 48 X 72) under a canvas cowl cover. Bought it on EBAY. Insulates nicely.

Bill,

Good to know that they make a remote; I had no idea!
