Inspections

Inspections

Postby Frank Brunot » Mon Oct 13, 2014 9:03 pm

I'm considering putting my 1969 PA-30C into service with the Coast Guard AuxAir program.

The last time I was in the program, they only required the normal annual inspection for aircraft in the program. Two years ago, they added a requirement that the engines could NOT be more that 12 calendar years since MAJOR overhaul. That eliminated a LOT of aircraft from the fleet.

They are now dropping that requirement, but mandating 100-hr inspections. With the hours that could be flown, that means the plane will be torn apart every few month!

My question is: does anyone know of, and could send me, a PROGRESSIVE inspection program for the PA-30C?

Thanks.

I'm waiting to hear what the final ruling is. It's suppose to be today, Nov 1st.

When I hear, I'll post it.

Also recommend you discuss the topic with Ron Keil (ICS Secretary) who also is involved with the USCG auxiliary in Michigan.
