I have a 62 PA24-250 (SN24-3110) that needs new brake discs. I have the rivit-on type. The parts manual is less than helpful. My friend with a Comanche a couple hundred units newer than mine says the part number is 159-00104 and gave me an old disc with that number on it. Spruce shows a Rapco replacement as RA164-00900 for the PA24-250. The parts desk at Johnson Aircraft, who advertise on the rear cover of the Flyer, said the 164- series is a bolt-on type using the through bolts on the wheels. Those discs are ~$100 to $120/ea. many places. He said the 159- series is the rivit-on type at almost $600/ea. He said the rivit-on type was not common enough for PMA producers, so only Cleveland has it. Am I stuck with the expensive rivit-on type from Cleveland or is there an FAA-approved substitution to the cheaper and easier to install bolt-on type? This is a $1000 difference! Help and thanks. Bob
