I am on the final assembly stages of a 4 year restoration of an early model 24-250. My serial number is in the low 300's. This airplane was delivered disassembled, and no pictures of the flap mechanism are in my possesion. It was a basket case, but a pretty well complete basket case. The wings just reinstalled, and making up flap rigging. The parts manual calls out, Fig 36 (2K10) #48 part #21277-00 "Spring-Flap bellcrank tension" No required "2" Does this mean 2 per wing, or 2 per airplane?? If you refer to service manual "Sketch C " Fig 5-5 (1G8) it clearly shows a "PAIR" of straps & springs on the bell crank. Its confusing, and I have obtained conflicting information from different sources. The guys at Webco tell me that it takes one per side, and that makes the most sense to me. There is also some confusion on my part about another set of springs on the flaps elsewhere. Both sides have the locking mechanism in the up position, and there is a spring in that lock. The initial pull on the flap handle unlocks the flaps, and then extends them. The only return springs I posess (other than the ones in the lock)are the ones on the flat straps with a notch in the strap. It appears it bolts thru on the bellcrank, and connects to the bracket inboard, on the wing with a clevis pin. If any one has detailed info, or a picture with the wheel well removed, I sure would like to see it. In my research of parts over the last few years, I have had a few seasoned and knowlegeable people tell me, early comanches, "No two were the same" Will post a picture of the final product when finished.
