Which Gauges have lighting built in.

Postby Joseph Munoz » Wed Apr 02, 2014 6:03 pm

I have a 59 Comanche 250. I'm just trying to determine what gauges have built in lighting and what gauges rely on overhead lighting. Just having trouble figuring if I have some bulbs burned out or if there not supposed to have lighting built in. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Hi Joseph,

I have a 260B, so a little later than your aircraft, but none of the primary gauges in mine were lit from the factory. Over the years I have replaced all but one of the gauges as they have gone bad. Each time I've paid the extra to get a lit gauge and then wired it in. That said, I like the overhead red lighting just as well and use it often instead of the internal lighting. The VSI is the only original left.

Good luck, Don

Thanks Don. Im used to flying a modern helicopter for work with all the bells, whistles, and modern LED lighting, so im glad to know that the way the plane was built. I will slowly do the same thing you did. THanks again.
