Aussie Horn Group Buy

Aussie Horn Group Buy

Postby Pat Donovan » Sat Aug 17, 2013 6:05 pm

I thought you should know that the ICS Board is going to be discussing the possibility/desirability/operation of a group buy of the the Aussie horn during a conference call this Thursday. You may recall the installation of this horn will be a terminating action for AD 2012-17-06, but will require external visual inspection with log book notation every 100 hours. Price is TBD.

Pat -

What does the "external visual inspection" every 100 hours require? Do any parts have to be pulled for this?

I just installed a new Piper horn and am looking for the route that involves the least amount of ongoing assembly/disassembly of tail components. I'm having trouble believing that pulling these tails apart every year for a visual inspection or every 5 years for dye penetrant is only going to cause more problems.

Matt,

The visual inspection is almost exactly what you should be doing on a normal annual inspection. Pull the tail cone and look closely to see if there is any indication of movement between the horn and tube is what I was told.

Depending on savings, I might be interested as well.

It is my understanding that the installation kit is reusable. It might also attract more buyers if a group purchase of several installation kits was included and could then be loaned to the group buyers and possibly leased to non-group buyers. Looks like the installation kits are $219 each. Dividing the cost of a few installation kits between a larger group of buyers would result in decent savings for each buyer.
