De Ice Controls Operation

Hi,
First post here, had previously been on the other one and never knew about this one until this week. I've been really getting into this twin com that I bought and figured out how to give her most of the TLC she needed. I'm getting my de icing up and running and it's had been Inop due to an overdue bottle hydrostatic. I wanted to see what;

A) Cycle control
B) Air Supply

Do and how they work? I can see how to put in the 1800 psi per charge and I greased all the controls and fittings. So what next, as I'd like to try testing the system on the ground and see how it works out. Any advice appreciated.

Welcome. There are folks who post here with de-icing systems - not one of them but hopefully they w ill be able to answer your questions.

To my knowledge the Twinkie never had deicing equipment installed. Am I wrong? Was it by an STC? Maybe the turbo??

Thanks Pat, I'm sure one of the 5% of the guys with boots will be able to answer the question. If I never the principles of operation and any gotchas it would be great.

Hi Steen - its an STC for both turbo and non turbo. Wiggins Airways is the STC holder, but its a BF Goodrich system. It's got alky props too. If ya want to buy the airplane, I'll sell it or trade it. :D that's what I do. Pic is of the later vac pump driven system.

You have the nitrogen bottle system. You first must turn on the air supply, and then actuating the cycle control will inflate the boots. You only have a limited number of boot cycles before you are out of pressure but the system works pretty well if you need it!

Thanks there Zach - So in summary:

a) Pull out the air supply control (all the way I presume)
b) Pull the cycle control to inflate (all the way again?)
c) Push back in the cycle control to deflate

I've been looking at it closer trying to figure out how it works and the air supply seems straight forward. I've attached a pic of the overall system. The part that seems to be out of adjustment is the cycle control. I've attached a close up picture of it. The control is obviously disconnected from the distributor valve. The valve seems like it has a piston that moves up and down and that needs to be free'd up and it's hard to see how to adjust it correctly. Any idea's?
