Gear Warning System Micro-switch Adjustment

Re: Gear Warning System Micro-switch Adjustment

Update: My IA was able to adjust the switches using a combination of the adjustment on the three switches which as noted in an earlier post move together as a group as well as adjusting the left / right timing by adjusting the position of the L-shaped arms that hold the roller/round bushings in relation to the throttles. We have (thus far) not done anything in terms of my "shimming" with tape idea. My IA wanted to first see if he could simply use the available adjustments to solve the issue and it appears he has done that. We test flew today and we now have the setting too low. Tomorrow we will adjust it to a higher throttle setting but the good news is it seems that all three micro switches will be triggered at the same time in terms of throttle position. I'll post again with a final resolution.

My "rollers" look the same. They are mostly flat on 1 side and do not roll nor do I think they ever did. I have adjusted mine several times and when I asked my IA about it he chuckled. Been there done that he said. I came to the conclusion that with the flat spots the lever arm is shorter, therefore making the adjustment a little more tricky. Shorter arm equals less actuator travel with the same throttle travel. I am planning on making some new rollers when I get a chance. I like the idea of bolting them in. I have also noticed that there is a wire that threads through a hinge type connector between the throttle quadrant and the panel. This wire will work its way out against the side plate and my throttle quadrant seems slightly loose. When this happens, the gear switches seem to be less consistent. I am going to replace the wire with a larger diameter and secure both ends to see if this helps.

I just got back from my hangar and as promised I checked out my Rollers. The rollers are not flattened but like the rest of you they
do not roll. They are fixed to the throttle lever via rivets and they are squeezed tight... no possible rolling.
I checked the log books and there are no entries as to these rollers being replaced, so I would guess they are original.
Maybe they are a little harder than the ones that flatten.
Anyway I attached a picture of the rollers, sorry for the quality I only had my phone with me to take pictues.

Ditto Pat's comment - thanks everyone for the posts. Don't know that my pics are any better though ;) Interesting that Gary's rollers have not flattened whereas ours have. I wonder why. Bryan - I am not entirely sure what you mean by the wire and replacing it. I read your post several times but can't quite relate to what you are referring to.

Just another comment, I checked out the service manual and it doesn't mention lubing the metal fingers, but
mine still had a thin film of what felt like a graphite lube on it. Maybe this has kept the "rollers" from wearing.

Mine also appear to have a thin film of light lithium grease or similar.
