Gary... you can get a copy of the 2004 Win a Twin records for about $10... from the FAA... just request it online... a credit card and 4 days later you have a CD in your mail.

All the best!

The AOPA Twin Comanche was recently sold to a CA buyer. Kristin Winter knows the detail about the TC and AOPA refurb.

Jeff: I looked on the knot2u website under pa 30 and pa 24 and could not find the control columns.
What part of the website did you see them?

Thanks

Gary,

Look under the search section. I believe its Pilots Yokes or Rams Yokes, it's there.

Gary,

Go to the Knots2u web site. Look under the PA-30 section then look left and scroll to the advanced search and write "Rams Yokes". It comes up for $1325.00.

Jeff: I still just can't find the Pa 30 yokes. The ones for $1325 are for almost every piper model but the pa30.
They also resemble the Avion yokes.. which are stc'd for the pa24, but not the Pa30. (I previously contacted The Avion folks and they have said you can install them in a Pa 30 with a tube converter for an additional 135 dollars, but you will need a 337 to install them. Unfortunately In Canada 337's are not allowed, only Stc'd items are allowed to be installed.

Will still be looking for the original rams horn yokes I guess.

Jeff, just to confirm, these are the control columns in the win a twin. Have you seen these
in the knots2u website?

Gary,

Those are the ones in the Win-A-Twin. I have been in the aircraft recently so can attest.

Kristen
Yes that was the picture of the Win A Twin. I was just wondering where to buy those particular yokes and if they were
just a one time 337 for that Twin or were they Stc'd for the Pa30.

My guess is they are an actual piper part from a very recent model piper and the Aopa twin was given a 337 authorization to
install them.

Gary,

Your assumption is correct. Those are more recent model Piper yokes. I think that it was done with a 337, probably by Oxford Aviation which seems to have the ability to get their FSDO, or a friendly DER to sign lots of stuff off.

Gary,

Get the tail number of the Win a Twin and call the FAA. Send them money and they will send you a complete set of all the 337s and other paperwork they have for that tail number on a CD. I think it costs about $10.00. It is public information so you don't have to worry about the legalities.

Also, A long time ago I called the people who installed the panel to ask a question. The first thing the guy said was, The yokes were very hard to get them from Piper and then to get the FAA sign off. But it was done. I had a different question but it was something I remembered. FWIW.

Thanks for the info. Knowing that, I won't even bother as I have said before, in Canada 337's are not allowed.
They have to be stc'd in order to be legal.
Anyway I still like the look of the original comanche rams horn yokes with the original piper emblem , I will
keep looking.

For info, I forgot to post that last year I was able to acquire the new style model C yokes.
A noticeable difference for my knees during the flight control tests.

We have a set of Piper PA30 rams horn yokes from a 1967 PA30. I don't know if they are the same as the PA39 yokes. Al Powers 206 283 9996 or John Rabourn @ 206 601 7027.
