PA-30 Size (pic attached)

Postby David Pfeffer » Thu Sep 20, 2012 12:00 pm

Hey Gang!
New to the forum. Looking forward to meeting everyone. Can any Twin Comanche owners give me the dimensions for X and Y shown on the linked picture. Need to make sure the TC I'm about to do a pre-buy on is going to fit into my T-hanger. The dimensions aren't in the maintenance manaual or POH and plane's not local, else I'd obviously go out an measure it myself. Any help would be greatly appreciated! :D

Hey David,

Welcome to the Forum and future Comanche ownership. If no one answers your question today, I'll go measure tomorrow.

btw, who is doing your pre-buy?

David,

Let me know if I can research the prospect TC for you. Did you get my Comanche Buyer's Guide?

I would not trust the specs diagram you posted. 'Commanche' was misspelled.

David,

FYI,

Make sure you know which measurements you get. There is a standard nose, a Miller Mod nose extension (rare), a Radar nose mod, and some people have installed a home-made nose cap.

Also, don't fit it in a hanger that is to tight. Hanger rash may result. Be safe. FWIW.

I hope this helps,

Jeff

David,

I'll go measure X and Y for you on a stock Twin nose and LoPresti more pointed spinners tomorrow.

FYI so far the twin has fit in every hangar we've tried at distant and un-familiar airports - however, we do use wing walkers and tail watchers to avoid hangar rash in new places.

P.S. lost this thread for awhile but found it today.

Y is 13'10"
X is 12'9" - assuming you wanted this from essentially the wing root line to the spinner. From the trailing edge of the wing it is 11'7"

Hope this helps.
