Fuel selector

The fuel selector has given up the ghost on my 1964 PA30. Are there any rebuilds available that anyone knows of.

"given up the ghost" means?????
If you mean the fuel quantity guages no longer work then all you need are new "buttons".....contacts that the fuel selector makes in different
positions.
If you mean you don't know where the fuel comes from that makes the engines run.....you have a major issue.
One minor, one major. Big difference.

The left fuel selector has failed.
When parked on the ramp, the right wing was filled first and then the left. The ramp was not level and the left wing was higher than the right. The next morning when preflighting the plane I took off the the right main cap and the fuel gushed out. I made the short flight back to the base. The right tank was still full and the left was half empty.
I checked out Comanche Gear which seems to be the least costly at around $1400 each. The Webco link took me to a place in California which had new stainless steel ones at $3250 each. All of the other locations were somewhere in between in price.

Just so you know...

The original selectors are mild steel with cadmium plating. The plating eventually wears through in spots and then corrosion sets it. Part of the overhaul process is re-plating them. Having them overhauled works fine, but you or someone else will likely be repeating the process in a few years when the plating wears again. The stainless steel units look like they will outlast everything else on my airplane.

Call Webco and talk to them. Their web presence is often not all that current. Their repairs are very economical, but as Jay said, the new ones are way more better:-)

11-June 2012 Update

If good things come to those who wait, then this fuel selector will be solid gold
The original people who were going to sell me the fuel selctor, could not find any paper for it
Comanche Gear did not have the left fuel selector
The AP contacted Webco and if the unit is serviceable they can turn it around in a couple of days
If not, then I will have to go the Stainless steel route, which is almost as expensive as gold

The only effective difference between the left and the right selector is the top piece that has the mounting points. You can swap the tops and change the left to a right using your top. It is the body that needs overhauling, not the top piece.

Finally got the plane back around the 12th July. The selector arrived from webco defective but the guys at the shop with the help of Webco got it to work. So far it appears to be working well as no problems were noted on the RT to KPCW.
Next time I will go the stainless steel route
