Gear Motor Solenoid

Gear Motor Solenoid

Postby Robert Miller » Tue Mar 13, 2012 11:19 pm

Has anyone had to change a gear motor solenoid which is located in a terrible spot aft of the firewall at the top? Where can a person find a replacement apparently Webco does not have them.

Thanks

Robert, I got one from him about 2 years ago. I replaced mine preemptively when I had a new instrument panel installed. Also replaced the lights and gear switch and wiring. I got all of it from Matt. Hope he can help you out.

Good luck,

Mark

Bill,

Replaced one about two years ago. They are available from Aviall (Piper). It is called a contactor. I think it was about $85.00. Mine would fail intermittently and blow the low current gear indicator light breaker. Was only able to replicate by inputting vibration to the unit after I removed it from the plane. I dont envy the reinstall. Pull the original and hook up the wires by rolling everything down toward the floor. I had better luck putting the bolts back in toward the front but make sure you have clearance to the brake fluid resevoir.

Thanks to everyone for the information did find out that Matt had one and also I will able to get one from Prairie Aircraft in Regina Saskatchewan which was in Canada and a overnight on the bus. Apparently it cross references to a Cessna part number as Prairie is a Cessna dealer. It is a challenge to change very time consuming $$$

Regards
