replacement clock for instrument panel

my 1962 250 has an electric clock in intrument panel thats dead ((450-706) I would like to replace it with an 8 day clock (non electric) that was stock in some planes...are they interchangable and what is the part number for the eight day clock? Found a part number for one at salvage yard but dont know if its right one...part #752010ET0...is that the right one? Thanks in advance for the advice

As a follow up....I have found a used Timearc 8 day clock that looks like it would fit. Anyone have any experience with this brand? Do we know what brand was used by Piper?

Randy, you might find some help by going to General Maint and look about 1/3 of way down page to "8 Day Clock". Maybe I should not say it BUT I will - Century robbed me on clock and refuses to even answer my messages.

I believe the standard 8 day wind-up clock in the Comanche was a Wakmann.

Very good. Thanks for the info. Below is the old electric clock currently in the panel and an 8 day clock I found as a potential replacement. Not sure if it will fit but think it will. Its clearly a quality time piece...

As a follow up...the replacement clock pictured above fits like a glove and really looks great. Given the challenge with the fuel gage in this model flying without a clock is a requirement. I particularly like the wind up model because it is so reliable. My thanks to the young man at the parts dealer who broke the rules to text me a picture. Best 75 bucks Ive ever spent.

Take your old 8 day to any good watch/clock repair shop, they are fixable. Ray B

I personally would put in an electric clock. They come in quartz that keeps perfect time and will probably last the life of the aircraft. You would have to set it when first starting the plane with either your wristwatch, or most GPS's have a time page that is extremely accurate. Aircraft Spruce has a 12 volt electric clock p/n 10-22812 that costs 117.50. It also has a sweep second hand and resetible elapsed time hands. Make sure it is wired to turn OFF when the master is off. Now the big problem..........whether to set it to local time or zulu time.

I took our 8 day clock to a local watch repair shop. For 80 dollars they cleaned it and it works perfect now. he also informed me that it was made by Britling.

Ray: Already did that and it lasted couple years. My plan is to have 2, one in the plane, and one on the shelf for when the one in the plane needs to go back to the shop.

Skip: For me the point is to have a clock/timer that is independent of the electrical system. If they made a battery powered on I'd be all over that. Already have a Davtron hooked to the hot side so runs all the time and its never run the battery down. Want a back up for when things go south.

Skip: I stopped wearing wristwatches when I retired, besides I want the timing feature, crude as it is.

Tom: Not a fan of cr-p stuck all over the place in the cockpit. Don't use handhelds in the plane for the same reason.

Think I'll just buy another clock.
