Passenger Arm Rest

Passenger Arm Rest

Postby Matt Bogard » Thu Jul 14, 2011 4:06 am

Hello! I'm the very proud new owner of a '59 Comanche 250! It's in great shape overall but one of the new items that needs addressed is a cracked plastic arm rest for the back seat passenger. The top part has been recovered in leather and looks great, but the lower plastic bracket with the screw holes to the fuselage has cracked.

My Comanche friend swears it's a part taken from an old Chevy or Studebaker and with the right information is easily available from Hemmings catalog, anyone know if this is true, and if so where the thing is from? Alternatively, anyone know a good source for a new arm rest?

Thanks!

Matt, welcome to Comanche ownership!

There's a Parts catalog in this website under the technical tab that might help to get a number.

Sources - have you tried the advertisers in the Comanche Flyer yet? Webco? Clfiton Aero?

You might also try salvage yards such as ASOD.com

Hope this helps.

The early Comanche arm rests were automobile. Three choices...aircraft salvage, auto salvage or plug the holes and ask your backseat passengers to keep their hands in their laps. (I forgot 180s had back seats.)

As a South Bend resident and having worked in the Studebaker factory I must remind you that except for the Avanti production ended in 1965. Comanche production ended in 1972. Confucious said, "the end is near".
