Are co-pilot brakes required to train in or take a check ride in a twin comanche

no, i took a cfii, mei checkrides in my twin, no copilot brakes.
I was in the right seat, w/ no brakes.
My examiner and I discussed this ahead of time, He was in charge of the brakes, something I rarely
would agree to, he was good about it.
