Oil Temp Concern

Oil Temp Concern

Postby Nick » Mon May 09, 2011 2:11 pm

I have noticed in the last 6 months that my oil temp seems to be running somewhat higher than it did in the past. (about 10 - 15 degrees higher) Now summer is coming and I am concerned about it running even hotter. I suspect it is an oil cooler issue. I seem to recall a comment on this fourm about a newer oil cooler that is far more efficient and keeps the oil much cooler than the stock cooler. Any help will be appreciated.

Nick,

I had the Twin's coolers overhauled at the same time of the engine overhaul. The engine overhaul replaced the vernitherm and all has run well before and after. You might check on these two items and when they were last done on your aircraft. I didn't know so I just had them done without regard to past maintenance as described above.

Hope this helps.
Pat
