does anyone know if it is possible to add AC to a 1966 Twin Comanche.

Thanks

To my knowledge that has never been done, and their are no approved installations. Probably the best option is something like the "Arctic Air" cooler, www.arcticair.com. I know of at least one Comanche that has vents in the hat shelf at the rear of the cabin that are connected to an arctic air cooler in the baggage compartment.

Most pilots report that the arctic air is reasonably effective, and it has the advantage that you only need the weight of the cooler on board on hot days, where as you'll carry the 50 to 70 pounds of installed AC on every single flight whether you use it or not.

I built my own coller for about 100 bucks. Thinking of submitting an article in the flyer about it. It's a 48 quart cooler. With the free rich guy FBO cube iceit will last betwen 1.5 and 2 hours. Cools the cabin by 20 degrees. Air coming out the vent is 46F, the same as my ford truck. With two blocks of ice and some added free cubes the time goes up to betwwen 3 and 4 hours use.
If your handy and like a little work you can build one in a sat afternoon. For me it was worth the 100 bucks. If i had paid 500 or 600 for it I would have been dissapointed. But as always, things are relative. Artic air does also sell an electric unit, and thier coller units are of high quality, they have a great website. Hope this helps

Contact F. Lee Bailey. The Bailey Bullet has a built in A/C. Something tells me you can't afford it though.
