Hi scott
The tubes are a problem. Piper have big problems to make them right and as I understand they had another batch of bad parts, yet i might be wrong.
Your best bet is to contact Eric Pau (Trojan Flier), this is because a tube might not match ‘a’ horn, in other words the horn and tube are drilled as a pair. When I needed to replace my horn Eric helped me and provided me with a tube that could be made to match a used horn that I bought of Webco. If this will not work for just take a very very very deep breath of air, thanks god that it is winter, order a tube from Piper and an horn from Australia and then just sit and wait for ~ 5 months.
Good luck with this

Scott,
There was a twin torque tube on ebay a few days ago. Don't know if it sold or not, but an ebay search might find out.

Scott,

Pat Keefer has the right idea so far. I have never liked the words "completely shot" coming from a mechanic whether it be auto or aviation. Makes the hair stand up on my neck, and usually makes me reach for my wallet.

If this is the stabilator torque tube we are talking about, "completely shot" would mean he couldn't get the stabilator halves off of it due to corrosion. Either way several pics from different angles forwarded to someone who knows what they are looking at would be a requirement for me were it my airplane. I am jaded toward Denny Haskins and Eric Paul (as Ben said) as they have done so many and I know them. Cliff at Heritage Aero is a good guy and is closer to you, so that will work too.

Last time I spoke to Denny, he had a couple torque tubes for sngles. Don't know about twins, but he or Eric would be a start.

Eric's email address is eric@avrecords.com.

Good luck, Mike Foster
What, me worry?

I’ve had the 652-580 stab tube kit for my Comanche single on order thru Chandler Aviation in AZ since July 23 and the Piper Distributor (Aviall) keeps giving Chandler Aviation a later delivery date.

Piper did deliver the horn assy I ordered at the same time. It arrived late August as promised but we’ve got nothing but a run a round on the torque tube kit.
