Scott,

This is a truly great and honorable undertaking by you and your associates. It is easy to look at the huge unmet need in Haiti and think that your small effort will be like a drop in the ocean....BUT remember, you eat an elephant one bite at a time. Efforts like this become the first flake of a snowstorm that can blanket the area with aid and humanitarian assistance in ways that are unimaginable.

I hope ICS members, and all Comanche enthusiasts, will support this effort you have brought to our attention. Perhaps you could give readers some ideas of how they might help in a meaningful way. Since not everyone will have the means to fly their own aircraft, are there other ways to help? Is there a common last point of departure in the US that people could send supplies for aircraft headed to Haiti? Maybe you need equipment for the water crossing? Oil for planes just prior to departure? Fuel credits? Particular medical supplies? Donations to fund a last inspection prior to the ocean leg?

Again, I congratulate you on getting involved in a personal and meaningful way. I look forward to updates as these missions progress.

Archangel Airborne: Operation Haitian Alliance

Postby Scott Ducey » Sun Jul 18, 2010 2:05 am

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I am heading down to Haiti with other Comanches on a humanitarian flight next month. This morning I had a productive call with Archangel Airborne and its members on details of our mission and the supplies we need. I am funding my own flight myself and am not asking for money. Given the limited space in my Twin Comanche, we thought it would be best to fly medicines and medical supplies to Les Cayes. We feel we can get maximum impact from this type of useful load versus something bulky like water / food. Since I have never done something like this before, if any of our members know of a resource where I can get donations for these items please let me know. I work for an insurance company that insures hospitals, I am going to talk with some of my business contacts. I am not sure how difficult it is to get these things so your help would be appreciated. If either you or someone you know can help with this endeavor please either mail me at scott_ducey@yahoo.com or call my cell at 908-256-3159. Here is the donations we are looking for:

(1) Antibiotics
(2) Immunizations for diptheria and tetnus
(3) IV Solution
(4) Hospital supplies such as gauze 4 x 4, surgical gloves

Thanks for listening, and I really appreciate ANY assistance / advice you can provide.

Best regards,

Scott Ducey

PS - the whole premise of Archangel Airborne is to help those in need through general aviation. I am really looking forward to this trip, and hope in some small way it makes a difference.
