broken feature?

if a bunch of us are having the exact same problem with autologin and cookies, maybe someone involved in site maintenance could acknowledge the problem and the action they intend to take to fix it?

as Kristin said, having to log in multiple times to read articles is a major annoyance...

Yes, please, may we hear the action plan for this problem?

Thanks, Don

I've been having the same problem and am not sure just what's causing it. I haven't changed anything on the site that would effect auto login. I have been talking with other programmers the last few days and do not have a definitive answer yet. I suspect it's got something to do with the constant updating of our browsers to add security. The website sends the cookie--then it's what the browser dose with it. If the site didn't send a cookie you wouldn't be able to log on at all. I got IE to auto login OK by erasing the comancheflyer cookie and re-logged in and it seems to be working. I did the same in FF and it only worked for about 4 logins and quit?? Cookies expire and need to be replaced periodically. I think all of you already know not to log out but to (X) out if you expect auto login to work.

I will continue to work on this and hopefully will have an answer to problem soon.

Dave: Just a data point: I get to the ICS forum without going through the log in procedure probably 75% of the time. I have no idea what is going on to cause the inability to log onto the site on the rest of my attempts.

Dave,
I noticed that the address that my previous bookmark took me to (forum index) was different than the address that came up when I logged in through the ICS main page and then got to the forum. I erased my old bookmark, and re-bookmarked the index and have had no more issues. I did this last week, and a day later the addrss changed again, so I repeated, and have had no further problems (address hasn't changed). The new bookmark takes me directly back to the forum index, already signed in. (I didn't write down the address change, but it was significant in the late stream, that I assume contains some of the log in links.)

Right on Zach, Cookies expire, usually every 30 days and need to be reset. I strongly suspect the problem is with the constant updating of these browsers. However, my FF auto log on works correctly on two of my computers but is intermittent on the other??? IE is working OK for me on all my computers. It' going to be difficult to get much outside help during this holiday week, but I will continue to look for a more conclusive answer.

Hi Dave,

I know you are devoting time to this and don't wish to be pushy but, to think this is an IE or FF problem is nuts. I use 2-3 different computers on a daily basis. On each I go to no less than 20 business or recreation sites that all have cookies and all but 1 of these sites has no problem recognizing my computers. You know which one that is. I run both IE and FF and it doesn't matter.

I realize that the BOD purposely avoids reading any comment from the members on any subject but perhaps they should do something here?

Thanks, Don
