Postby Richard Kozacik » Sat Aug 08, 2009 2:40 pm

Hi,

I started installing a New Panel for my 250 and ran out of time. If you know someone that is familiar with this type of project and has the time Please contact me at 770.899.3755 or my email richard@karinandrichard.com

Plane is located in Los Angeles.

Thanks
Richard

NEW PANEL

Hello Richard,
You might talk to Richard Kurtz, Megahertz Avionics in Bakersfield. They've done a new panel and 3 upgrades to my 250 over the last 10 years. Some airframe mods too.
They're ICS members flying their own PA 30, extensively upgraded over many years.

I can also vouch for Robin Howard at Howard aviation. I have known him for 20 years. Always fare. Sometimes a higher, but will almost always take your calls immediately or call back when he says he will. They are a family operation and good to work with.

Our experience with Howard's Aviation was diffrent. Ours is a partnership in a 61 250. My partner had previusly done three diffrent plane avionics upgrade with Robin over the last 20 years or so and had excellent results and service. I myself had the Kn 64 installed by them with excellent results almost 8 years ago. We had them install a Garmin 430 W and a King Slaved HSI system. When we picked up the plane some basic functions did not work, auto pilot coupling to nav not working, Nav flag intermittent, etc. It took them almost 3 months and about 5 or 6 trips back to get the bugs worked out. Turned out to be simply a bad ground and some mis wiring. I can see taking it back once, or perhaps even twice, but to return the aircraft in a non repaired manner so many times was poor customer service. The time and cost to shuttle it to Howards and back was significant. We were not, in my opinion treated well. The general impression was that we were "too small " a customer amongst all the jets and turbo props to be put on a lets do this right list. I would not reccomend them
