Need Assistance With Part

Postby Dennis Boykin » Mon Jul 12, 2010 12:54 am

On the PA-24 260C, there are two clamps around the exhaust pipe on the right side that hold the alternate air shroud. It's specific to the C Model only (what a joy the C Model is.........)

We replaced the shield three years ago, courtesy of Webco. Now, we've cracked the front clamp. Webco does not have the clamps, nor does anyone else seem to. Both my normal repair stations are coming up blank.

It's a solid steel hose clamp with a raised platform and inset nut. The Piper part number is '26926-00 Clamp Assembly, Air Induction'. It's Item 29 on Figure 24B, Page 2D19 of the Piper PA-24 parts manual. It's the front one of two that hold the aluminum shield.

Does anyone have and idea where I can find that part? I've got a guy fabricating one, but I'd like to find a real one if possible.

Thanks,

Dennis

Hi Dennis,

Welcome to the Forum. I noticed it appears to be your first post here.

If no one here is able to help, I've had some success with the Parts Search help from Piper Owner Society - you have to join the organization but $49 is pretty cheap for the help I've received. http://forums.piperowner.org/

One work around is to modify the heat shield with a riveted on tab that has a "Z" bend in it that can be inserted under a standard hose clamp that is clamped onto the pipe, thus holding the heat shroud. It is not stock configuration but would be an alternative that is safe and can be accomplished under the owner produced parts rules. Another would be to weld a fitting onto the exhaust pipe that you could attach to.

I searched all of my sources for the clamp you are looking for and am not finding any either.
