Additional update on the Continental Fuel Cell contamination is that the Right main tank is also contaminated. It has been replaced by the successor of Continental at no charge, but the Fuel Serva has to be overhauled and the fuel replaced. Costs to repair are climbing and are approacing $20,000.00
Will let you know how the final results are in the near future. As of this date, N7017Y has not flown for 3 months.

What was your first indication? How did you confirm that the tanks were disintegrating?

I have never had any problems with my fuel cells that were done by Continental in November, 2002. Maybe some improvements were made since 2000.

It appears my problem was due to rust contaminates from the fuel divider that accumulated some moisture from sitting around for a prolonged period of time prior to the purchase of the aircraft. We cleaned it out and blew out the lines. It appears to work normally now.

There was no question as to the contamination. The sealant used by Continental was confirmed by Aero Tech when they advised that 3M, manufacturer of the sealant withdrew it from the market due to prob lems.
In your case, I can understand this problem after the AC sat for a while without use.
