Tech Support Improvement Initiative

On Sunday, November 8, 2009, the ICS board of director unanimously voted to establish a special committee to carefully analyze the potential for increasing the type support function of ICS by adding a dedicated technical coordinator. I was appointed to chair the committee and to select committee members to assist.

It is our intention to make a careful analysis of all options to find a feasible plan which will help meet the needs of the fleet going forward. The goal is to prove a written report by the end of March, in time for the spring board meeting.

Relatively speaking, that was the easy part. We still have to figure out a plan to make it happen. There are significant hurdles as the money is not just lying around in plain sight, ready to be spent. We are going to have to be creative. This may take assistance from the core membership who really use their aircraft and will benefit most from improved type support. One thing it will need for sure, is recruiting assistance for the membership. Finding the money for a technical coordinator would be much easier if we can get a few hundred more members.
