Oil Leak

Oil Leak

Postby 15384 » Tue Nov 18, 2008 3:51 pm

Am having a problem pinpointing a small oil leak in my right engine. Because of the turbulence of the air flow through this area it makes it impossible to pin down. I have run the engine on the ground with the cowling off for extended periods but can't find it but once airborne for 2 hours I come back and there is enough oil in the belly pan, gear, gear door, mist on the stabilator, that it takes ample spray of brake cleaner in order to clean up the area. Am getting tired of this.

I have found information on an additive to the oil and then using a black light after a flight or what ever helps locate the origins. But am still breaking in new engine and don't want to add anything at this point.

Does anyone know a sure fire way to pinpoint an oil leak?
