Looking for PLane and Pilot, March 2002 issue

Postby jbravo65 » Mon Jun 29, 2009 4:42 am

Hi all. I recently purchased a 69 Twinco from Smyrna Tn. (N8679Y). I found some discussion in a previous forum about it being in the March, 2002 issue of Plane and Pilot. If anyone has that issue with my plane, I would love to it from you. Thanks, Phil G. jbravo65@sbcglobal.net.

Welcome to Twinkieland! I am no help on the magazine, but I have a 69 Twinkie as well. You will find lots of great info here, all for the posting . . . assuming you are new to Twin Comanches.

TC Sold

Postby David Pyle » Mon Jun 29, 2009 3:35 pm

I believe this is Carl Brasser's TC. It is N8670Y, not 79Y. Kristin and I discussed it about a year ago. The price then was $155,000 through the broker. It is a very nice TC. Bruce Thumann owns the Brasser's ex-1972 260C which is also a show plane.

Oooops. It is N8670Y (typo). I sold a 99 Sklane in order to buy my first twin. After a lot of research, I decided on the TC. I just could not find anything else that could match its performance and economy. I shopped around for about three months and it finally came down to 70Y because of the extensive refurb, avionics and impressive maintainance history. After negotiating a price on the plane and maintanance issues that came up during the inspection, I brought her home in March.

There has been a few more maintanance issues that have come up since I got her home, like finding a crack in the middle rudder attatchment bracket (thanks to the flyer put out by ICS) but for the most part, I love the way she flies.

By the way Kristen, I met you at the seminar in Petaluma. I brought you the old cracked rudder bracket for show and tell. Great info. Thanks!

Hey, welcome to Twin Comanche ownership. They are such a stable platform. Great for cross country.

I fly a 39. Hope to meet you at a Comanche event in the future.

I have the article. I do not have the magazine... jim dot covington at inwave dot com

Please email if you would like the original article. I had carefully trimmed it out of the magazine and it was stapled in one corner. I'll be glad to mail it to you...

Oh! Its you Phil! I didn't recognize the user name.

I am sorry that I was too busy organizing the seminar to see your plane. If you make it this way again, or need a $100 hamburger, drop in.
