Plane Accident

Harley

Postby Scott Ducey » Sun Apr 05, 2009 5:49 pm

I am not sure how people feel about this, but if anyone has pictures of Harley (his plane), background information, etc, I would like to put up a video tribute on ComancheTube. Let me know if anyone feels this would be a tasteful way of memorializing his memory. I never met Harley, so I might need help filling in the blanks. If someone thinks they knew Harley well enough to help me out, please get in touch with me. My email address is scott.ducey@harborpoint.com. My cell is (908) 256-3158.

If anyone feels this would not be appropriate, or Harley would not want this done, please let me know. I completely understand.

My deepest sympathies to his family and those who knew him personally.

Harley was in the Champ; not the Colt. The Champ has just been re-skinned with new fabric and new control cables installed? The Champ struck trees and a house located along the side of the 3400’ runway. Harley had just rotated for takeoff after about 1000’ when something went seriously wrong.

Funeral services will probably be Wed or Thu as an autopsy will have to be performed in Huntsville AL first. Perry Funeral Home in Centre will probably handle the service. Flowers can be arranged through Centre Florist (256/927-5985).

There is a big hole in the flying world that will not be easily filled with the loss of Harley. We have had the pleasure of knowing Harley and his family for almost twenty years and will deeply miss him.

This is so very sad.
I remember well the last time I spent with him - cheerfully counting the election ballots at the Tacoma Convention - so typically Harley.

Our thoughts are with his family.

I'm so sorry to hear about Harley! I still can't believe it. He was one of the best. The world is diminished for having lost him.
